Understanding Botulinum toxin
NOWMEDI lists botulinum toxin treatments for facial wrinkles and selected facial or body areas, as well as micro-injection skin treatments. The product, dose, and proposed use should be explained before you consent.
What botulinum toxin does
For expression lines, botulinum toxin temporarily reduces the activity of selected muscles. It does not add volume in the way a filler does. The AAD describes a typical cosmetic effect lasting around three to four months, sometimes longer; that is general information, not a promise for your treatment.
We offer several brands and treatment areas. Ask which exact product is proposed. Different brands and uses should not be compared by a price-per-unit figure without an explanation from the clinician.
Who should discuss this option—and when to pause
Tell the physician which expressions or areas concern you and what movement you would like to retain. A line visible at rest may raise different questions from a line that appears only with expression. Ask what the treatment is likely to change and what may remain.
Disclose past toxin treatment, any unusual weakness or reaction, relevant medical conditions, medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and recent facial procedures. This helps the clinician decide whether treatment is appropriate and whether the intended area requires special caution.
What to discuss at consultation
Which product will be used? Which muscle or area will be treated, and why?
- Your goals, prior procedures, medications, allergies, and relevant health conditions.
- Expected benefit, limitations, alternatives, and whether no treatment is the better choice.
- The clinician performing treatment, the exact device or product, and the full written price.
A closer look at the appointment
Before treatment, ask the physician to explain the target areas and the intended balance between movement and softening of lines. Clarify the product, total proposed dose, price, and whether any later review or adjustment would incur an additional fee.
Ask for our written instructions about touching the area, makeup, and activity. Know when to assess the response and whom to contact if the effect is uneven or an unexpected symptom occurs. Avoid planning an adjustment solely around your last day in Korea.
Recovery & planning your trip
Timing of assessment and any adjustment should be agreed before you travel. Do not assume different toxin brands or units are interchangeable.
Recovery varies with the treatment, settings, area, and individual response. Confirm your review appointment and return-flight timing with the treating physician. Ask for written aftercare instructions and a contact plan before leaving Jeju.
Results, timing, and realistic expectations
Ask when the effect should begin and when the clinician wants to evaluate it. Do not judge the result immediately after injection or assume that repeating injections early is appropriate. Bruising or an unwanted muscle effect can still affect social plans even when a procedure is described as having little downtime.
Trouble breathing, swallowing, or speaking requires urgent medical attention. Do not wait for a routine message response. For less urgent concerns, use the follow-up route agreed with the treating clinic.
AN INFORMED DECISION
Risks & considerations
Ask about bruising, asymmetry, unwanted weakness, eyelid changes, and rare systemic effects. Get clear instructions on symptoms requiring urgent medical attention.
No aesthetic treatment is risk-free. These questions and examples are not a complete contraindication or risk list. Your clinician must explain the details of your proposed treatment.
Cost & what is included
Request a current VAT-inclusive quote. Confirm the treatment area, product or device, quantity or settings, anesthesia if needed, review visits, and any extra charges. No fixed package price is presented here because a current confirmed quote is needed.
How to compare a treatment quote →Compare the approach, not just the name
These are discussion points, not a recommendation or a claim that every alternative is available at NOWMEDI.
| Option or concern | What to discuss |
|---|---|
| Botulinum toxin | Targets selected muscle activity; discuss expression and movement. |
| Dermal filler | Adds or restores volume in selected areas; has a different risk profile. |
| Skin or laser treatment | May be considered for texture-related concerns rather than muscle movement. |
Common questions
Can I choose this treatment before I arrive?+
You can ask about it in advance, but a final recommendation depends on clinical assessment. Availability does not establish that a treatment is right for you.
Will the treatment be the same as in the U.S.?+
Not necessarily. Products, permitted uses, and clinical practice can differ by country. Ask your physician about the exact product, its intended use, and its authorization in Korea and the United States.
Can I combine it with another procedure?+
Ask the treating doctor about sequencing, cumulative risks, and recovery. Do not assume combining procedures is appropriate for a short visit.
More questions about this treatment
Is Botox the name of every toxin?
Botox is a brand name often used informally for the wider category. Ask which product the clinic proposes and have the actual name recorded.
Will my face look frozen?
That outcome is not inevitable or something that can be ruled out by a website. Explain your preferences and ask how the treatment plan balances movement and your goals.
Are skin injections and muscle injections the same procedure?
No. NOWMEDI lists skin botulinum toxin as well as other uses. Ask about the injection location, purpose, evidence, and risks of the specific plan.
